Empower Together: Peer Mentoring Program
The Empower Together Peer Mentoring Program is a community initiative aimed at supporting individuals within the Black minority population of Oldham through personalized mentorship. This program connects individuals looking to grow personally, professionally, and emotionally with mentors who can offer guidance, advice, and support in various areas of life.
Our program is designed to provide one-on-one mentorship focused on career development, mental health and well-being, social integration, and accessing essential services. With a supportive mentor, participants will be able to set personal goals, build valuable skills, and access the resources needed to thrive in their community.
Mentorship Focus Areas:
Career Development – Professional skill-building, resume preparation, interview skills, and job search support.
Personal Growth and Confidence Building – Developing communication skills, building self-confidence, and fostering resilience.
Access to Community Services – Navigating healthcare, housing, legal assistance, and educational resources.
Mental Health and Well-being – Strategies for coping with stress, reducing stigma around mental health, and encouraging self-care practices.
Community Integration – Building social connections, fostering a sense of belonging, and encouraging community involvement.
Program Structure:
Mentors and mentees will participate in regular, one-on-one sessions tailored to the mentee’s specific goals and areas of interest. Each session will last 45 minutes to 1 hour and can be conducted in person or virtually. Mentees can book sessions on a flexible schedule, and mentors will be matched based on shared interests, goals, and relevant experiences.
